Good morning all. Looks like both Manchester teams are full strength. I’m calling a brace for Tevez in a 2-1 City victory
The pace of this game is frightening.
Cheering for a black hole to open up under the stadium and swallow both teams and their fans!
Why on Earth did Sir Alex give Gibson the start? He brings NOTHING to the table other than long distance shooting. Where is Park?
Interesting that Rooney has been invisible for the last 20 minutes. You can’t say that very often this season.
Jeez, then he gets a golden op and misses. Weird.
Rooney is clearly only half-fit. He’s normally all over the pitch, and he’s just parked alone in the City half right now….and a half-fit Rooney is still better than lazy Berba.
Everytime I hear De Jong’s name, it makes me wanna puke
Wow, can the ManU players whine any more? Let’s have a pool: what will Sir Alex blame this week?
I think the United players are complaining because the referee has swallowed the whistle up to this point.
I think that he has let em play but it has gone both ways. I don’t have much of a dog in this fight, my team is going to win the league…I’m just watching this for the quality of the match.
I love Ryan Giggs like a brother, but he has done less than nothing in this match….Sir Alex has to consider bringing Nani on if United doesn’t score early in the 2nd half.
Adebayor is playing hard and well today.
City just doesn’t have a lot going on in the ‘half court’ offense. They’re fast and counter beautifully but they really aren’t prying open much when in possession. Of course, United gets some credit for that.
Today’s Soccer on TV schedule is missing:
3:00pm-Direct Kick- Seattle vs. Kansas City
4:00pm-Direct Kick- Houston vs. Chivas USA
This game has lacked quality…not lacking in effort or passion, but both teams have been sloppy around the box.
Following on what Mig said, I think both Vidic and Evans have been very good, hence the lack of goal-scoring threat from City in possesion. I think Toure has been very solid for City as well.
The sloppiness has been argued a bit earlier this year regarding City, Mike. They play so damn fast that it looks sloppy and there ARE a lot of turnovers in their game.
Wow, Rooney pimped it up to get that yellow card. It was a yellow, but he really hammed it up until he was sure the card was coming.
The announcer was hilarious. “BELLAMY FOR MANCHESTER CITY! and he blows it”
City could REALLY use Ireland out there.
Agreed, United have totally taken control of the park in the second half. I think Viera is the wron choice, he’s a bit long in the tooth. He hasn’t impressed yet for City in any game that I’ve seen.
I completely agree. His bald head could blind Van de Sar while Tevez tucks it away
Well, City has stabilized the center of the park with Viera out there…so maybe Mancini was right. Especially since a draw is OK, if not great, for City.
Wow, two good tackles from Scholes today and no card.
I have to say it again, I hate Nigel De Jong
woohooo….this game just woke up.
What were Barry and Giggs doing?
I agree Brian. He joins the DeRossi and Leonardo club.
I guess if City are playing for a draw, he is the right choice. But City haven’t created an actual scoring chance yet in this game…though I suppose a draw ends United’s title hopes, and that’s all a City fan could ask for.
Word
I don’t understand why neither team is trying to win. They both need the 3 points respectively
Obertan has some potential…but I would LOVE to see David Silva in Red next year….
Hopefully what I just saw was wrong but Jozy on the bench
Viera IS a step slow out there.
Jozy on the bench. hesselink starting…mind boggling.
yup, Jozy on the bench. Damn that’s frustrating but Hull DOES have a lot of strikers.
Van Der Sar has lost his mind! City had their chance….
Apparently Dowie’s thinking is “bust your a** one week for the team and I’ll give you a break the next week.”
yeah, that was nearly a rare disaster for VDS.
It’s hard to be shocked by Altidore being on the bench. Dowie’s record as a manager speaks for itself. They are going down, and Dowie can look in the mirror to find the reason.
Well folks, good game chat today. Enjoyed it. Mike, Brian, and others, Have a good one. Going to a pub later for Chelsea-Tottenham.
I could vomit.
Congrats Mike.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have to say, that was a hell of a game. Probably a bit harsh on City, but obviously I have no complaints.
Brilliant ending, both squads looked dead at the end
Man U pulls off another one of those SMH
Jozy on the bench, and Dempsey is still out for Fulhmam. Bummer
I feel guilty for wasting part of my morning on that dud. Could both teams play with less inspiration.. even Tevez looked like he was stoned.
How the hell is Altidore not starting in this game? He has been decent as of late and as we know Hull stinks but for a team that can still stay up this decision is mind boggling!
i could be wrong but the pattern i think of late is that jozy has not started in away games as part of hull’s rotation up top. not saying i agree with it but i was wondering last night when i set my alarm whether i would even get to see him play. also dempsey not playing? i know its supposedly a minor knock but i would love it for us to finally get healthy (i’m looking at you sirs davies and holden)
Completely agree. British media sources have regularly hailed Jozy as the most dangerous player for Hull. How Dowie cannot start him is beyond me.
I’m more worried about Onyewu than Davies and Holden.
Only half watching, but announcers “He [Howard] is struggling every time the bal is sent into the area.”
It’s not as if Altidore is a 20 goal scorer guys. I agree he should probably be there, but let’s not over state things. With one league goal all year, it’s not a baffling, outrageous decision.
Yup.
Have you been watching the games? Because I think it would seem a bit more questionable then you are leading it to be if you saw how Jozys been playing. And lets count all the penalties Jozy has won. Goals are not the end of the story.
He’s not saying Jozy sucks. He’s saying that it isn’t a cataclysmic shocker that Jozy is on the bench. You’d think he’s been responsible for every single one of Hull’s goals this year…
I’ve watched pretty much every Hull game (unfortunately). Yes, Jozy’s had a hand in some pens and freekicks leading to goals, but he’s not a one-man wrecking crew out there. He’s improved and offers something when he’s on, but his being on the bench doesn’t leave me speechless and incensed. They have lots of strikers who’ve contributed.
At any rate, I’m sure we’ll see him in the 2nd half.
gladbach getting killed by shalke.
boring game i turned it off. only plus is espn3 is better than using other streams
i’m wondering if gooch moves again this summer or sticks it out with milan. i think he’ll be okay for the WC
Whenever I watch Bundesliga matches I find myself having a better viewing experience. Forgetting the fact that the Premier League has better players and thus better technique (especially at the top), everything about German soccer is more enjoyable and doesn’t leave me fuming (like the PL)….the fan participation, refereeing, etc., not to mention the healthy financial situation in the league. Forget the PL, I know what league MLS should emulate. By the way, M’gladbach is losing 3-1 at Schalke.
Bradley plays so deep for his team, he gets very few touches of the ball. feels like he is a spectator.
Yea, I know what he meant, I just get bothered with the 1 goal argument, which to a point is something to think about but there are other factors. But yes, benching Jozy is not like say sir alex benching 100% fit rooney all of a sudden. Lets hope we do see him in the 2nd. Let me just say how shocked I am that the Hull Def has not given up a goal yet.
It’s a horrible game, to be honest. I blame Villareal for making me watch Hull City all season.
Pretty sure I just heard USA chant in the Hull City game. Could that be right or does Bir have a chant that just sounds like that or something?
it sounded like they were just chanting altidore…!
I would like for Nelsen to be back in DC….ASAP
Took me like 5 minutes to realize my feed of the Hull game was really of Fulham’s game…
Wow that was a strike from Nzonzi to put Rovers level. Be ashame if Everton did not win this game they have had plenty of chances
Jozy is on the bench and almost the 75th minute.
Altidore finally on.
Jozy’s on now.
Jozy on in the 76th
Birm GK looks like Holden.
Now i need my feed to not freeze up every 30 sec. At least my the audio is good….
Jozy just dropped a nasty straight arm on a defender. Dude’s a beast.
NICE SUB COACH
McShane the right back for Hull is the least skillful player in the EPL
Where were you folks? I posted and everyone else followed… LOL
Jozy has looked very good. He definitely earned a corner there really light fall
Chanted Altidore again..he has been good while one for these few minutes.
Hull is an absolutely awful team. Bullard thinks he is a superstar and 90% of his passes are backwards. Atrocious.
I went to the Hull vs Stoke game and sat with the Hull supporters. Pissed was the least you could say about the Hull fans frustrations at their manager, especially about Jozy not starting.
and he looks like he was put together with spare parts
it may not have amounted to much yet today but jozy is playing some real god d*** footy today. great to watch him develop from all his raw talent, he’s putting it together
Jozy could have two assists right now, if his teammates could finish.
Jozy is playing a good holding forward…
how many times has Altidore played for the give and go but have not received the return pass only to see his teammate shank a shot?
Imagine if Jozy were under the guidance of David Moyes…
ive watched them before and his deep role isn’t the most exciting to watch but at least you get a sense of his tactical awareness and positioning, today the entire squad seemed like they were half-asleep
Jozy played well in his 10 minutes, setting up two of Hull’s best chances of the day.
imagine if jimmy bullard was actually as good as EPL followers would leave you to believe…
Eric Lichaj scores for Leyton Orient. Hes loaned there from Aston Villa. Has started and played a full 90 minutes every game since he got there.
Dream Team in real life.
Dolo clubs a Munich player in the face haha.
Coming in late to the match sequence today so wondering what folks think about Timmy’s performance in the Everton match… did he look out of position on those goals or just two rockets? first one looked like it was curling away (and maybe a slight deflection) but the second one by Roberts felt like he could’ve anticipated better that the strike was coming almost immediately after Roberts got his first touch.
Wonder if an MLS club, like say DCU (yes I’m biased) could get a loan for Anichebe, Yakubu or Roberts? Probably dreaming…
Ok back to Tottenham-Chelsea
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH WWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEENNNNNNN TTTTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE SSSSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSS GGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MMMMMMAAAAAAAARRRRRRRCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG IIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH WHEN THE SPURS GO MARCHING IN, HOW I WANT TO BE IN THAT NUMBER, OH WHEN THE SPURS GO MARCHING IN!!!!
hahahaha agreed
This is amazing! Droghba is playing hurt right now so Chelsea only have really 10 men out on the field and they cannot sub. 2-0 Spurs. This will go down to the wire in May.
Ives,
If there was ever a reason to revive the “You Write The Caption” feature its this photo: link to soccernet-assets.espn.go.com

It’s good to have a Yank coming up through the ranks at my favorite club (Villa, not Orient). He’s done quite well in his loan moves and may be closer than some might think to first team football.
wow I hate chelsea. terry’s such a boob.
Anyone watching the Barca game?
Barca looks like they do not care.
What a change of pace. Barca looks better in real life than if I was playing with them in FIFA.
He did some nice things with the ball. I would like to see him make his way onto a team that has an average to above average midfield.
If he has a big World Cup, sky is the limit.
On amatuer?
Is Dempsey still battling that hamstring injury?
yes
everytime i hear De Jong’s name, i want someone to break his face.
