From the Guardian: “Clint Dempsey has had more off-target efforts on goal (22) than any other player in the division.”
Clint’s a gunslinger for sure. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
I say he puts one in at the Cottage today.
Great save by Gomes in a very entertaining game where Arsenal seeming to dominate so far.
I love soccer in ESPN and 5.1 Dolby.
Anyone watching Spurs/Gunners on the west coast?
haha soccer in HD*
Palacios + Huddlestone = one heavyweight midfield.
Arsenal seeming to dominate? This is a very even, entertaining match so far
What the hell just happened???
Ouch. Hate to be a Tottenham player when they watch the video of that Fabregas goal.
wow…scoreless until the end of the half and Arsenal put in two!
And up until the first goal the game looked pretty even if you ask me.
Credit Arsenal’s two best players for two impressive individual efforts, but this match turned when Keane could not trap a simple ball that should have resulted in a goal.
As a Spurs fan, I’m gutted. Spurs were hanging back and playing a bit too much long ball to Crouch, but I was pretty pleased with how they looked. For the most part, Spurs were breaking up everything Arsenal was throwing out them. Then a quick chance off a throw (where Gomes should have done better) and then Fabregas running past Palacios and King (how often does that happen?) and after all that good work, all of a sudden Spurs look out of it.
When I wrote that, Arsenal was dominating. shortly thereafter the Spurs took control of the midfield and they looked stronger. Very close until the end of the half when Arsenal blew it open. Look forward to the 2nd half.
That’s how we do it in the USA. Aim? We don’t need no stinking aim.
Tottenham played that kickoff so, so badly. You almost wish they hadn’t because Fabregas’ play was so awesome it should be up for golazo of the year.
Eduardo stuffed 1 v. 1 by Tottenham keeper… made a couple of nice kick saves this half.
BTW – Thomas Vermaelen the best transfer buy (i.e., value for the $$$) for the 1H season? (And no – not an Arsenal fan)
It was a fantastic goal and he deserves all the credit for that killer instinct, but I think it’s being overblown just a tad. He beat two guys, not ten. He also beat Gomes though, which I suppose is ultimately all that matters.
He was indeed an underrated pickup
Well that was crap. The advantage was created by the fact that everyone stopped playing. You shouldn’t stop playing, and King and Gomes both should have blocked the cross so Spurs can’t complain too much… but it was still a crap non-call.
Can we all take a second to honor Mr. Brad Friedel, Cleveland native and UCLA Bruin, who is starting his 200th consecutive — 200th! — Premier League game today?
Amen brother. That is really just nuts.
Jozy back on the bench today.
Jozy on the bench
Bradley starting…espn360 in spanish
anybody know if Jozy is on the bench today?
I agree. Vermaelen is Vidic and Rio combined in 1. The armband has to go to him when Fabregas leaves.
Sky Sports Match Tracker has Bradley playing up top as striker any word on this? Jozy ob the bench again
Great win for Arsenal. About time they didn’t concede and stunning goal from Fabregas. I cannot believe Eduardo missed.
Spector starts again’
Bradley is playing midfield battling ZeRoberto
Anyone have a somewhat reliable stream for the Gladbach game? I can’t get 360 as I’m out of the country.
rojadirecta.com has links to this and most other games
Gladbach is on atdhe.net
nice goal from BM, Bradley with the early build up
definitely a nice BM goal, Bradley made a great play, even the ESPN deportes guy gave a lot of credit for the goal to Bradley
Lets hope they hold on and Gladbach can get to safety this year. I have this fantasy scenario where Bradley eventually goes to Shalke and starts alongside Jermaine Jones. 3 points versus the league leaders would be a huge windfall of points.
fulham up 1-0 on liverpool
zamora
anyone have a Fulham stream?
Sucks for Bradley, but it was an awesome goal by Ze Roberto. 1-2 for the Gladbacher.
Carlton cole is just a beast!!
Bradley was also partially to blame for the first goal.
Bradley is alays to blame
torres to tie it up!
fulham 1-1 liverpool
Jemal Johnson out w/ a calf injury for MK Dons, Grella and Pittman on the bench for Leeds and Wycombe respectively.
Also Frankie Simek starting (!) for Wednesday.
Wycombe up 2-0. Walsall don’t seem to be threatening too much. Pittman is fit so hopefully he gets into the game.
Yeah, Canada! Rob Friend with the 3-2.
Altidore is on for Big Jan
any good feeds for the fulham game and the hull game
Does anyone have a stream with video for the Hull match?
big win for Bradley and Gladbach 3-2 win over the German leaders
2-0 Burnley
radio guys saying how bad the refs have been against Hull today, repeated theme also that Jozy can’t hold the ball
2-0 Burnley
2nd red for Liverpool!
Dempsey is injured….. f-ing nice
Carragher and Degen have been sent off a few minutes apart.
how bad?
“altidore of all people was late for a challenge, but at least not 40 minutes late”
-radio guys after a jozy foul
(SBI-Wow, that made me laugh so hard.)
Dempsey is alright. He just took the free kick after Carragher’s red card
thanks, that is good news, last thing the USMNT needs is more injuries
DEMPSEY! 3-1
DEMPSEY GOAL!!! 3-1 Fulham. Game over!
tap in goal for dempsey…3-1 fulham.
Ives always predicts these kind of things. Dempsey up top with Jozy is gonna be Great…. Demps can hold the ball while jozy makes runs
Anyone watch Jozy play? I was to busy watching Duce do his work.
From SkySports
85 Altidore wins a free-kick near the Burnley box to give Hull a bit of breathing space, there’s still time for a comeback…
76 Altidore is looking lively for the away side which is a little deflated at the moment.
71 You can’t take your eyes off this game now as Altidore shows good strength down the right to pull away from his marker and fire in a useful cross to the backpost.
good quotes there, Mcjones. It’s about time we had a good week for Americans Abroad. It’s true that Deuce up top behind Jozy is not such a bad downgrade from Charlie. I loved Charlie’s speed to complement Joz, but Deuce’s strength in the air allows them to share the target duties so one player doesn’t absorb all the abuse and if the defending side doesn’t know which player is playing target at any moment, it could cause matchup problems/ marking confusion.
I also like Holden swerving in crosses to Deuce, who is more accustomed to the English-style crosses than the rest of the nats who seem to blow one opportunity after the other.
Nice prediction.
apparently jozy played great
i heard that hull had a free kick goal taken away because of some jostling in the wall, which was apparently not worthy of even a talking to
geovanni was given a yellow for arguing it and then got another a minute after for a red
the referee influenced that game too much
According to the radio broadcast Jozy also hit a laser that deflected off the post and out.
I have to agree that the radio team for Hull is hysterical. “Never mind waterboarding, it’s torture for a fat bloke to have a pie in front of him and not be able to eat it.”
I was listening to that broadcast too. They were pretty harsh on Jozy the whole match. But, they praised Brown like he was a legend.
There was no video feed. The radio announcers said he looked improved and even asked if he should be included back in the Starting XI. MOTD will have highlights. Jozy had 2 shots, one hit the post and was described as a cracker. We’ll see.
It was the beachball ref. Same guy who allowed Bent’s goal off the big red ball. They promoted him back to the EPL and will probably quickly relegate him again.
I’m taking credit for Dempsey.
Had him on my fantasy team and he didn’t do anything.
Took him out and he has a goal in two straight games.
Great effort by Cesc but I can not believe a team over 12 year olds would fall asleep like that. The outside backs had no business being so far away.
Oh I know I did the same thing. Literally took him off three weeks ago
Blackburn holding on so far 0-0 at half. Playing 11 on 12.
Bradly with a win over the league leaders, takes Gladbach up to 11 points, with some breathing room from relegation!
….what? You mean Dempsey as the target striker with Altidore as the second forward? Sorry but it should be the other way around with Dempsey playing deeper and Altidore sitting closer to the center backs, although they’re subject to in-game change since both have shown abilities at both positions.
10on11?
Anyone know how Spector did?
12? thats cheating! haha
Spector started and played the full 90. West Ham tied
Except that the foul was called against Jozy. Not how you want to be featured in highlights, with a goal being erased on account of your foul. Perhaps it wasn’t flagrant, but Jozy is often pulling and pushing on set pieces. I’ve seen him get away with some that should have been called. That’s something he is going to have to learn not to do.
