FC Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala is set to miss four to six weeks after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Sala made three saves in FC Dallas' 3-1 loss to the Chicago Fire in the season opener for both teams.

Ray Burse is expected to step in and start for FC Dallas. Burse made two starts in 2008 and six starts in 2007 (at the start of the season while Sala served a suspension), posting a 3-4-1 record in those starts. The 24-year-old Burse will be backed up by 18-year-old U.S. Under-20 goalkeeper Josh Lambo.

FC Dallas returns to action this Sunday at Pizza Hut Park against Chivas USA.

What do you think of Sala being sidelined? Think Burse will do well? Wonder if it matters which goalkeeper is in net as long if the back-line is shaky?

    FIRST

  2. Isaac says:

Not good. FC Dallas already were a defensive mess. Sala was one of the few things that kept them from turning into mayhem at the back. Oh, yeah and Burse wont fill in well.

  3. Army of Dad says:

Ray *Boom Boom* Burse will do just fine. The defense on the other hand, well lets just say Shell-us ball will be in full effect @ PHP.

  4. kevin says:

f*c* dallas just cant get a break and were not even 2wks into the season

  5. sean monaghan says:

we put 5 past sala…when he was healthy….or was he?lol

maybe FC dallas was ordered by MLS to let the Galaxy score 5 goals

  6. Jimmy Bobo says:

This is a big blow to FC Dallas. Sala is much better at marshalling the defenders than is Burse. They are about equal in shot-stopping ability but I forsee more defensive errors without Sala. We’re hosed. Those of us who have followed FC Dallas since early on have become accustomed to mediocrity and poor form.

  7. einar says:

Burse will do fine himself and lambo is not bad as a back up. but the line is not right.

  8. TonyT says:

I think right now, since its the beginning of the season, the back line will need the leadership and experience of Sala, bad blow for FC DALLAS

  9. Charley says:

crap. sala had a great off season, and came back in better shape and fitter than he has ever been with the club. He was really poised to have a standout year. Burse will be pretty good, and if we can get the line in order we will do alright.

  10. Bob says:

That would be crazy if Lambo had to play. Even crazier if he led the team to the playoffs. Both Ray and Lambo are great goalies. But Sala will be sorely missed

  11. joel says:

    Tough break for Dallas!!!

  12. Over by dere says:

When did that happen? I thought he looked pretty good SAt. He was up and yelling when Blanco threaded his needle in OT

  13. Northzax says:

Thanks for pointing that out kevin, you rock.

Also, glad I have chivas on my fantasy team this week.

that will happen when you have to pull all those Fire goals outta the back of the net
